About Lauri J. Laughland

Lauri J. Laughland is a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area and currently resides with her family in Lee's Summit, Missouri. She graduated from Center High School and received a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri - Columbia. Lauri attended Law School at The University of Missouri - Kansas City and earned her Juris Doctor in 1984. During law school she clerked for several  attorneys and opened her own law practice in early 1985.

Ms. Laughland is licensed to practice in all of the Courts in the state of Missouri. She regularly handles hearings and trials before the Circuit Court and has argued before the Missouri Court of Appeals Western District and the Supreme Court of the State of Missouri.  She also regularly practices before The United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Missouri.  She is a member of various legal groups and committees, most notably the Missouri Bar, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, the Cass County Bar Association, and the Eastern Jackson County Bar Association.

She has been involved in various community organizations throughout her career and has been honored as a pro bono volunteer representing veterans of the US military.

She previously served a three year term on the board of officers on the Jackson County Public Water Supply District Number 1 after being elected by the citizens of Grandview.
